SBBC is like most Australian Baptist churches in that it does not produce a comprehensive set of doctrinal views on non-core matters. That said, there would be a prevalent belief:
- that Christ died for the whole world (unlimited atonement);
- that one who is genuinely saved cannot lose his/her salvation;
- that the Holy Spirit indwells believers from the time of their salvation; and
- that salvation and baptism are distinct events (i.e. not baptismal regeneration).
These examples are provided to help characterise SBBC, however it is stressed that our focus is on the gospel and indeed on whole Word of God, not on single issues.
The word “Baptist” refers to the General Baptist traditions, beliefs and doctrines which enable Members of the Church to hold differing theological stances within the conservative evangelical framework, which are not contrary to the Word of God, with no one stance being promoted at the expense of another.
